5.2 Global Tropical Cyclones

Description#

The Global Tropical Cyclones queries global tropical cyclones data for the past three years, including cyclone position, movement trend, wind speed, wind scale, wind circle radius and other core indicators. To obtain targeted cyclone data, first retrieve the global tropical cyclones list, then query details of a specific cyclone using the typhoon_id returned from the list endpoint.
Note: The global tropical cyclones list returns records for all cyclones worldwide over the most recent 3 years.

Applicable Scenarios#

1.
Route Planning & Optimization
Route Formulation & Adjustment: Shipping companies may pre-plan vessel routes based on cyclone track, intensity, movement speed and other metrics to avoid cyclone-affected waters.
2.
Vessel Navigation Safety
Navigation Risk Early Warning: Real-time monitoring of tropical cyclone data allows shipping companies to issue timely navigation risk alerts to operating vessels.
3.
Port Operations & Management
Port Operation & Scheduling: Port authorities may rationalize vessel entry/exit schedules per tropical cyclone data. Vessels shall be notified to depart the port or take shelter in safe anchorage waters ahead of a cyclone’s arrival.
